Huh?

That's what warrantees are for, bud. Things that are known defects are taken care of through TSB's or recalls.

In fact, my LCA's are getting replaced tomorrow!

Don't let our 'complaints' deter you from getting a g8. I have a 2009.1 car and couldn't be happier with it! It's got more 'native power' than ANY 2009.5 car (except the GXP, of course) since GM crippled the 2009.5 with a set of pup cats in addition to the normal cats for NVH control.

Of course, aftermarket catback exhaust systems level that playing field, but for those who are planning on leaving the exhaust stock: 361hp for 2008 and 2009.1 cars, 355hp for 2009.5 cars. lol, I know that's not a lot, but it's bragging rights, right? lol

Bought 3/30/2009, retired 7/18/2017 at 136k miles, still strong. Been a great ride, she will be missed!

^I'm not worried about a 2009.1 breaking down, I'm just more inclined to thinking that the improvements made to the 2009.5's were done for the betterment of the car. With that being said I would still go for an older G8 for the right deal.

I'm bringing it back!!!! I just found some more differences.

The window switches in 2009.5 are shorter, more curved and have a plastic piece that stops the switches from being pressed by someone resting something on them.
Also the glove box in 2009 has a full shelf and 2009.5 doesn't have a shelf at all.

Post #43 I looked in my car an it has the full shelf. Some owners are either removing it or some got lucky when the car was going down the assembly line

Crippled is not the word I would use lol. A difference of 6 hp at the flywheel won't even register on the butt dyno, and could easily be made up by a good driver at the drag strip. Additionally I've seen it stated a few places that the decrease in power is rectified by running premium instead of regular. Regardless it's an inconsequential difference in power, but if it makes people feel better yes it is 6hp less than the older iterations lol.

I just got done test driving a bunch of 2009 GT's (I hated the atari gauges, started only looking for 09's), most of them were 2009.1's, a handful of 2009's, and 3 2009.5's including the one I bought. Here's a couple things I noticed in addition to what's already been listed, I'm probably forgetting some too.

- The 2009.5's had map lights that none of the earlier models I test drove had.
- Not sure if I just wasn't in the right setting but on the earlier 09's I found no option to have the defrost AND foot vents on at the same time. Pressing down on the vent selector button would go from foot vents straight to defrost only. On my 2009.5 it has an extra option to have the defrost and foot vents at the same time. Again I may have just not looked into it enough during test drives but I thought it was a really odd thing to be missing until my GF was playing with the hvac controls and it was magically there as I was driving my 09.5 home.

Also I was surprised at how much stronger the rear cupholder was than I expected. From the way people talked about it I thought it might break off just from opening it lol. I really don't see it as any more useful than the ones in the arm rest tho.

All G8's with sunroofs got map lights, regardless of year. And they all have foot/defrost mode.

Really? I know one of the others I test drove was an aftermarket sunroof so that makes sense but another had the OEM dial and no map lights.

Is there some setting where it will skip foot/defrost mode? I know the last two earlier production 09's I test drove skipped right over it, I thought it was really weird but was paying more attention to other things.

Back from the dead. Another change for the 2009.5. The oil pressure sensor is for the 6.2 LS3. I spent 20 minutes with NAPA and had them call the dealer to verify part numbers. Cooled the engine off. Pulled off the plug. Pulled the old one out because it failed. And it's totally different. Searched online for a while. 10:30pm at this point. After beating my head against the wall. I put my vin number into NAPA online and boom it brings up the 6.2 plug and sensor. It asks me to provide more info on my engine and only gave me the option to select 6.2 376cu in. And it's the correct one So I'm heading back this morning for the replacement that will fit. The smaller plug with a longer neck is 2008-2009.1 and the 2nd pic with the bigger plug is for the 6.2 and 6.0. 2009.5
