What the crap? Raced a ls1 stock z and lost?

How do i post videos to this site. I raced a 2012 SS six speed but had to back out of it with traffic coming up but wouldve lost reguardless but the z28 which he said was stock 305hp was as fast as my G8 and my only mods are cai and mufflers? We raced from a 20 roll and my car hesitated and didnt know what to do on downshifting and by the time i got rolling good the z was already reving up and pulling away. Once my car got rolling good he stopped pulling and i was just barely gaining ground and had to back off cause we broke 100+ and i wasnt wanting to go any faster.

Where are you getting 305hp on a 2012? I believe they are more like 400+.

You cant just punch it and expect to win roll races with a close opponent, you have to make sure you are in a good gear to start.

Also get ready to hear it about running up on traffic like that, just dumb.

LS1 Z28 is much lighter than your G8... and have been known occasionally to dip into high 12's stock (M6 I believe) an A4 is still a low to mid 13, where as a G8 is a mid to high 13's.

Sounds right.

Also the new Camaro SS is a bloated pig that's why an LS1 Camaro can beat it.

The 2012 Camaro SS has a 6.2 under the hood rated at over 400hp even with the automatic transmission.

He may not have been 100% clear but he did state he lost to a LS1 Z28, that's where he is trying to figure things out.

He said he knew he would lose to the SS but not sure why he would lose to the "305hp" Z28. Which is what I stated above.

Exactly, i knew the ss was stout, and for those who are gonna bash about traffic i did back out a little to get over behind the ss and we were barely running about 60-70 then and i agree it was stupid, but the ls1 must be a freak of nature cause even the ss said he out ran him the first couple times they raced until he learned how to shify properly? When racing the ss the z28 was behind us the two times we raced and we seemed to be pulling away from him then but all the races i have seen on youtube with ls1's they didnt seem to be that close? I know the 20 roll screwed me cause i was in second and it was confused on what to do before finally dropping to first and taking off but i was just shocked a 305hp stock car was that qui k. Lol.

Don't just look at HP, look at gearing and WEIGHT. G8 is around 4000lbs, a Camaro SS weighs around 3900lbs, and a LS1 Z28 will weigh in around 3300lbs (maybe a bit more not 100% on that number).

I'd hate to see your reaction when you race a new Mustang 5.0...

There's a sweet spot with these transmissions too. Even with my cortex tune it can lag from a roll. Always go on the 2 count unless you going from manual. Some times I'll punch and I digs and others it just decides casually get going.

You need headers and a good tune to turn the tables...

LS1 cars are closer to 3500lbs. But the car also has every bit of the 350hp that the Corvette LS1 had. The Z28 was advertised at 305hp and the SS model was still underated at 320hp.

They're good for 106-108 mph in the 1/4 mile bone stock. I'd love to run my old 2002 Z28 (A4, 2.73) against my G8 just to see what would happen. That car went 103.6 @ 108.5 with an SLP airbox lid.

I have NEVER been beaten by an LS1...ever. The gear ratios in the 6 speed auto KILL the older stock 4 speeds, and are faster than shifting the manual.

ROLL racing is the problem. NEVER has a poorer determination been used to figure horsepower! G8s are horrible from a roll. As judged by the second video, you were reeling him in. This indicates you have the power to make it happen, but your gearing from a roll allowed him to get a better start (whether it is a power band issue, or an auto-trans-lost-it's-mind issue)
Don't be down. Take it to the track to find out for sure.

You can choose to be anything you want on the internet...why choose to be so stupid!

Me and my girlfriend were on the highway the other day her in her 04' GTO and me in my G8. She came up next to me in the fast lane and as a joke I counted to 3. She hamered it and then I hammered it. Mine took a second to find the right gear and we were door to door for a second then I pulled her by a car length or so before I let out. I would've left her in the dust if i stayed in it. On paper they are pretty equal so......

I have tuned two cammed M6 LS1 Camaros, then raced them both from a 1st gear roll. They both run strong - and I outran them both. Of course I trapped almost 114 before my new 3.27 gears .
