Best driving road yet! GT's and GXP hit the road.

Posted these vids within the get together thread but wanted to share the wealth. fcsuper, Torzett own the non white GT's, and Wildbill has the White GXP. First vid is the trip to what is easily the most fun road I have driven on yet. Next two vids are of that encounter. VId was shot at a silky smooth 60fps but conversion and youtube killed it. Oh well. Enjoy.

How big are the orignal files? Did you re-compress them to upload to youtube? Host them somewhere, I'd love to see them. Filefront.com has a 600MB\file limit with no registration requirements.

Videos look great though, I always love shots like these.

I used a GoPro HD motorsport camera which comes with a ton of different mounting options. For these vids I actually used the suction mount on the front pillar/frame of the car just about where the side view mirror is. The original files are 2.81gigs and 2.4 respectively. 49min of recording time in Mp4 format that I chopped up to about 13min and converted to wmv via windows movie maker. I need to invest in a new software but it is free so it gets the job done.

If you look closely in the first vid one of the Grey G8's actually has two of these cameras mounted on it. One near the rear plate, and the other up on the rear driver door. In the still photos you can also see mine mounted on my white GT right next to the side mirror.

Very nice! When I was going through my video I could hear tires screeching, but was trying to figure out where it was coming from... looks like you were having fun back there.

Ah, I like using Sony Vegas, nice peice of software I've been using for years. Bit expensive, but that wasn't really a problem for me. As for the .wmv files, do you think you could upload them to filefront? I'd love to take a look at them before they got screwed up by Youtube. With any video I ever make, I always give direct download options for people who want to view them in full quality.

Well I'm uploading the pre-youtube converted vids to megaupload . com right now. I prefer this over filefront. I don't have the time to upload the unconverted vid since those files are enormous and I would be pissed if my connection were to drop and I had to start over. Vid links will be available within the next couple hours.

A (draft) clip from the first part the cruise. Please pardon the lack of transitions, I wanted to get something online before I do the final rendering.

YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

I still have a bunch of video from the second part of the cruise to process. I think I'll have the computer chew on the SmoothCam work tonight.

Thanks. Even the YouTube versions looked pretty good to me. I'm interested in learning more about that setup you have. I think it did a nice job.

Your vids came out great so far Todd. Wind noise was under control as well. Can't wait to see your final product. I'm going to hunt for some software today, and I think I'm going to have to purchase at least one more Camera!

Curious to see how the smoothcam turns out, I've used it in the past but the zooming sometimes throws my shots off. I might try a wide angle lens + smoothcam filter to see what that does.. smoothcam is quite amazing i must say

The video above has had the SmoothCam filtering done to it. Each clip was processed separately (not the entire piece of video). In the final version the whole clip will be processed... but that takes ~9hrs of processing for the two 30min 720p60fps ProClip 422 files on my laptop.

This is a comparison of the HD GoPro HERO Motorsports with and without SmoothCam.

There is some cropping due to the SmoothCam frame movements, but it has been minimal so far. The GoPro suction mount (especially if you don't use all the extension/adjusters like I did) is quite a stable platform. Running things through SmoothCam just makes things that much more stable... almost like I had a gyro.

the side by side comparison is awesome. can't wait to mess with it. i guess ive never used that filter for a mount situation, just handheld, so that might have been my problem (excessive movement)

nice work guys looks like a great cruise
