Fair trade in? 2009 GT 55K miles

Looking at trading in my 2009 GT, sport package, 55K miles. Completely stock except I removed the crap GM speakers and put in a set of Polk db651's. No door dings since I always park a mile away from everyone, the usual chips in the front fascia area that I'd guess we all have. For tires I still have the original 19s that I run in the summer and a set of Blizzak 17s (with TPMS) that I run in the winter. Might be able to get one more season out of each of those at best. Never had any engine problems or anything, car runs solid. No problems that I know of except yesterday I started having a problem with my drivers side heated seat, it doesn't want to stay turned on.

When I search online, it's telling me to expect a trade of like $17-$17.5K. Is that realistic? Dealers keep telling me that the trade in numbers on the web are total BS, and that they are always like $2K less than that. Seriously? I'd have a REAL hard time getting rid of my baby for 15K, that seems like a total rip off. Not looking to score a top dollar deal here, but I don't want to get scammed either. I'd go private party but I don't want to sit around for 2 months waiting.

Anyone else in SE Michigan area traded in a GT lately that could offer insight on what a "fair" price is?

Dealers are always out to make a buck. Bottom line. If they offer you 15, walk. I can't imagine you'd have a hard time selling quick at 17.5 if that is what you need/want out of the car.

yes, 17K is realistic for trade value. If they are offering 15K, they will make it to 17K - you just have to be firm and patient.

You can choose to be anything you want on the internet...why choose to be so stupid!

I've been trying to get into a 5.0 or Camaro lately and dealers will only give me $14-$15k for my 2008 GT with 57,000 miles. I've been to at least 5 dealers and carmax and that's the best I've gotten. Almost sold it for 15 until I came to my senses lol. I'm down here in Georgia now, I don't know if that makes a difference or not. I think my buddy from your area (Fraser/Roseville) traded in his 08 GT with 68,000 miles for 17ish in the last couple of months.

Does it have a sunroof? What color is it? I am in the market for a GT, and I'm about 2 hours away from you. Maybe we can work something out

2009 SBM GT bone stock
2008 TBSS almost stock
2008 GMC CCSB LMM far from stock

Dealer gave me $18,500 on trade a month ago, 42k miles w/ sport & premium packages. I'm sure I could have gotten more private party but I didn't want to deal with everything that entails.

I got 16, 900 for my base in January. Had 43k on it, STRYKER BLUE with sun roof. Traded it in for a GT with 24k. Guess I got lucky.

I know a guy that got a GT a few months ago for about $15,000 from a dealer. I think it had about 42,000 miles.

Yeah I told them I'm looking for 18, they said 16 is the best they could do so I left. The salesman says I won't find a better offer from anyone else in the area... we'll see.

I ended up taking $16,750. I know I could go higher on a private party deal and probably have done better on trade if we weren't going into the winter, but if I didn't unload now I'd probably have been stuck buying new tires soon anyway. I felt like I really had to twist arms to even get this high, maybe the price varies a lot by region. No one in Michigan that I talked to wanted to go much over 16K.
