exhaust for our red G8

Haven't been here for a few years, Hope everyone is keeping well!
Been busy working on our Oldsmobile's.
Our question... The Red G8 is in need of a mid muffler. Just wondering what you guys have installed in its place or just removed it all together.
The Red G8 is the one we keep in good condition , I would like some direction on putting some axle backs and possibly eliminating the mid muffler/resonator or whatever its called.
I re-call a place in Mississauga ( forget the name ) that came out with the solo axle backs for the V6's . Are they still around?
If you guys don't mind, I'd like some info and what you would recommend for a decent sounding system and where you guys had your exhaust done.
Thanks
Eric & Christine !

Your probably referring/thinking of Zoro's Exhaust in Mississauga.
They're on Stanfield Rd which is south of Dundas St just west of Dixie Rd.
Still alive and kicking. Still a Solo vendor.
Other than Hot Rod Scott on Kipling Ave the only place I'll take my cars.
Glad to see your back.

Hey Les,
Were not looking for any performance gains , just a little rumble . What change in tone could we expect with removing the mid muffler and install an X pipe in its place ?
The older stuff we see minor gains, but the tone certainly changes to the ill affect.
Does it equalise the tone better in place of the mid muffler on the V6 engine without headers?

Hey bro, The x pipe wont make much of a sound difference if you still have stock mufflers on it. Plus either way you may not notice much.
The x pipe is just less restrictive than a mid muffler. Help the car breath better.

X pipes tend to raise the pitch and introduce some raspiness.

Old thread, but I too ended up going with an X-pipe out of necessity.
Daily driver in MI, so the mid muffler eventually rusted itself a nice hole right at the top seam.

The sound of the x-pipe is definitely noticeably different to me, but not so much to anyone else that doesn't drive the car every day.
Personally, I'm very happy with it and it was also just about the cheapest possible option there was.
