V6 engine cover is pitted! DIY Repair??

So my engine cover looks awful, it's pitted and looks salty and just nasty and I would love to know how to repair this the best that I can!! Thanks

Ummm. Don't think your going to get rid of the pitting without some extensive refinishing. Now, it might "clean up" some with a mild metal finish restore product.
