Torn right now between spending $800 for a Solo catback or half that for a set of Doug Thorley shorty headers. I'm leaning toward headers right now and having flanges welded on to mate with the stock cats. This would give me a path to add solo cats and a full catback later.
Shorty headers will do very little to benefit you. Stock g8 headers flow pretty well actually it's the cats where all the restriction is.
