- recent as well as long-term trends indicate that cars will continue to get heavier/larger rather than smaller!

- imho 35 mpg is not possible in a G8 except maybe with some kind of diesel/hybrid drivetrain.

- 2.0L turbo in the G8? IMHO that's just silly and would not have resulted in G8s selling any faster/better !

Enjoy the car, dude !

I think Pontiac has a chance to get better if they learn from other automakers.. Lets take Audi for example.. In 1994 their image was so bad because of too many cases that cars accelerated on their own when really it was more of driver error that they were extremely close to pulling the plug on the North American market, But shortly after they released their A4 for the market and it was a hit.. From 1994 until now.. only 15 years Audi has grown from 1 car to Nearly 30 different models. Maybe Pontiac should do the same and could have a good shot at becoming a successful automaker in this country.

It would be nice if GM had followed some sort of idea like Audi has and continues to grow.

G8 - Full size sedan - Choices of Drivetrains (Base Model TT 3.6V6 AWD or RWD Auto or Manual for any choice, Premium Model V8 AWD or RWD Auto or Manual for any choice, High Performance Model Supercharged V8 AWD for Auto Only or Manual RWD only) - Modify interior/Exterior accordingly per model , All Models of G8 should optional MRC suspension and 1000w+ Bose sound system. Top of the line model priced no higher than $55k Fully loaded.

G6 - Midsize Sedan based on G8 platform only smaller - Choices of Drivetrains
(Base Model Turbo 4 Cyl. AWD or RWD Auto or Manual for any choice, Premium Model N/A 3.6 V6 AWD or RWD Auto or Manual for any choice, High Performance Model TT 3.6V6 AWD or RWD Auto or Manual for any choice) Modify interior/exterior accordingly per model, MRC suspension for High performance model only and 1000w Bose sound system optional for any model, Top of the line model priced no higher than $45k Fully loaded,

G4 - Compact Size based on the same platform only smaller from G6 - Choices of Drivetrains (Base model N/A 4 Cyl. AWD or RWD Auto or Manual for any choice, Premium model Turbo 4 Cyl. AWD or RWD Auto or Manual for any choice, Higher Performance model N/A 3.6 V6 AWD or RWD Auto or manual for any choice) Modify interior/exterior accordingly per model, Optional 500W Bose sound system for Premium and Higher performance model only) Higher performance model priced no higher than $35k Fully loaded.

GTO/TransAm Coupe based on same chassis - Choices of Drivetrains - (Premium model V8 AWD or RWD Auto or Manual for any choice, High Performance model Supercharged V8 AWD Auto Only and RWD Manual Only, Modify interior/exterior accordingly, Optional MRC suspension for High performance model only and 1000w+ Bose sound system for Both models. High performance model priced no higher than $45K fully loaded.

All models would have optional Nav systems w/ Voice Recognition commands, Moonroof/Sunroofs, Premium models and high performance model would have H.I.D. lights as standard. Optional tech gear for premium and high performance models such as Bluetooth, HUD, Lane departure warning, Heated/Cooled Seats, Auto dimming Rear view mirror, Heated Mirrors, Washer jets and Windshield, XM/Sirius satellite radio. Other techy features would be Auto Up/Down windows for all windows.

I think i'm done for now.. This is all pretty much wishful thinking but I think it's a decent idea for some direction that Pontiac should head into if they want to stay in business.

Pontiac needs to do nothing more than lose a little weight in this car and increase the options.

Backup sensors
Navigation WITHOUT OnStar (OnStar nav sucks)
Better display and gauges
Mood lighting
Auto settings for seats
Keyless Push button starts like the Vettes
AC that shuts the hell off and never comes on until told
DSG/SMG tranny for the love of GOD / Manual (worst Auto in a sports car I've ever owned)
HUD? Like the Grand Prix?

I heard on news this morning that GM now looks like they will also be dropping GMC and Pontiac. Chevy, Cadillac and Buick are safe as we all know.
Hope this is not going to turn out to be true

Who are these "sources" that say Pontiac is in line for elimination? My guess is cowering GMC dealers.

I fail to see why they want to hold on to Buick in the US? Pontiac sells more cars. Buick sells primarily to the senior set like my dad that won't be buying many new cars. Nobody under the age of 70 buys Buicks any more, at least not what I see around here. Why not keep Pontiac in the US, can sell them as a Buick in China?

And i thought i was the only one who absolutely hates this. How annoying is it that every time you turn your car on in the winter/cold that you have to turn OFF the AC. First car i have ever seen do this.

You're still getting warm air. The a/c is on for de-humidifying purposes.

G8 will probably survive as a Chevy Lumina in the US. God awful name, terrible car, I know I had one back in the 90s.

Most likely Pontiacs will become Buicks, like the Grand National in place of the G8

Buick is an icon. They never break. Have always had reliability and makes tons of money over seas.

Asia would not buy Buicks if the discontimued the brand here.

I bought a Buick for reliability.

Was looking for another one but thought the value of the G8 Gt was better.

Unfortunately I was wrong. Had several parts replaced already. Headliner creaks like mad.

Hopefully I won't have any more problems over the long haul.

No future problems, then I'm ok. So far fuel pump, O2 sensor, intake manifold and stopping in the middle of intersections is a bad record.

But... she does kill Mustangs!

I actually used Onstar for Nav directions this past weekend and it wasnt that bad. Pretty cool in the G8.

Yea it's pretty much confirmed, Pontiac is GONE. But the bright side is, our cars will become valuble antiques in the future. Remember the Delorean? hhaha.

I really hope that this doesn't screw with our vehicles warranty though. But logically it shouldn't, since GM is the warranty provider not necessarily Pontiac.

The U.S. is turning to facist economics in broad daylight. The merger of Government and corporations is simply called fascism.
