Denver Emission Testing

Hey guys I'll be moving to Denver next month and will have to register my new G8. It has long tubes and catback along with a tune. Can any Denver residents recommend a testing shop?

Envirotest/AirCareColorado has multiple sites around the metro area. It's basically a state run monopoly unlike back in the day when you could take it to most any shop that had a certified tech. They will check to make sure you have all the emissions equipment(stock or aftermarket) that came on the car, that there's no CEL/codes, and that it passes the emissions test. As long as you still have all your equipment (even if it's aftermarket), aren't throwing codes and can pass the dyno/sniff test you should be good. BTW, if the tune is removable, I'd probably remove it a week or so before testing.

I went through emissions this past summer and was able to pass with long tubes and high flow cats, but it took me a couple of trips.

On my initial trip I failed pretty hard. The tune I had (online "professional" tuner) wasn't even close. On my second trip, I took out my LS7 MAF and put in the stock MAF with the Vortex tune and passed.

My advise would be to make sure that your fuel trims are spot on; I think that's why the car failed the first time. On a side note, my buddy with the same setup didn't even have to run on the dyno, they just did the OBD fast pass.
