So you have locked your keys inside your G8

DO NOT do what I did, please!

1) Locked keys in trunk
2) Called AAA
3) AAA called another AAA
4) no amount of jockeying could press the locks in after 3 hours
5) slim jim and lock bar was useless
6) Called GM dealer to get a new key made, NO BLANKS ANYWHERE
7) Called local locksmith
8) They have the diagram on HOW TO open the back door
9) They cannot open it using more advanced methods using said diagram

DO THIS!!!
10) Have them pick the lock on the drivers side door. It took him 2 minutes!

Now I have marks and scratches on the plastic and door sills that I cannot blame anyone but myself for. And the new tint that was put on yesterday is all scratched to hell on the rear passenger window.

Things I learned
center console and glove buttons disable with keyfob lock
Apparently the passenger door has some kind of weight sensor with the lock on that door (correct me if I am wrong)

Easier way. Break off the driver door handle. Trip lock rod and open door. Buy new door handle.

I did the exact same a couple months ago. On star was not an option for me as I didn't have the service and they wouldn't do it (I called and tried). 2 different copanies came out to try to get in my car, both of which had bragged "I've done this 15-some years and have never failed at getting in a car".....well if true, the g8 is now a first for both of them.

Locksmith did not have the appropriate key, and when they finally got one from another locksmith they found they still couldn't make the key for some reason. They said the only way was to take it to the dealer and have them make a new key. Of course the dealer waned an arm and a leg and they said (I don't remember why) they have to wait 3 days to give me the key.

This was on a Wednesday and I had a car show to attend on the weekend that I reallllllllly didn't want to miss. I honestly considered breaking the window and getting it replaced. At this point it wasn't even about money, I just wanted in my car!

Turns out the girl I bought the car from still had a spare and overnight-ed it to me. I have never been so grateful for anything in my life!

At least our cars are damn near impossible to steal!

Dude that sucks. Sorry to hear. I think I would have bit down on my lip and broke the window. I think.

Honestly don't know what I I would do. But I'll take your advice and not do what you did

I considered the replace door handle thing, but the picking the lock was the cheaper method.

Yeah, blowing air in a lock cylinder does nothing to rotate the cylinder.

Thanks for the heads up. I never thought much about it, but I only have one key fob. Waiting for disaster? As to your observations, I'm a bit confused. Your center console has a lock? None here. The glove box lock and key are different from the key fob. Maybe they match a console lock too?

WOW, it takes a while to get a key made, it took me at least a week to get mine. OnStar, having a spare key or getting the locked picked (just deal with the alarm blazing while you get your key) are the only good methods.

I did something really dumb, I put my car up on the lift and put it in drive so I could tune my solo J pipes in real time. Thought I was being cleaver...

Neglected to think that when the door shuts and its in drive the car locks the doors. Didnt have the windows down to get back in. Called Onstar and ask them to unlock it for me. The lady said, Sir it appears your car is in motion, how did you lock yourself out? I had to explain in detail what I had done....LOL

Now that's hilarious. I can just imagine the "OK, WTF do I do now?" feeling I'd have standing there watching the wheels turning on my locked car 6 feet in the air.
