Greetings all. New member here.

So yesterday my fiance called me and was along the side of the road in her 08 G8 GT. Car threw the check engine light on. Also in the dash screen said service engine oil, overheating, and went in to a safety mode. It happened pretty quickly as she only got about 2 miles down the road before it happened. Upon my arrival we popped the hood and I noticed that the radiator, right where the upper hose clamps on, had broke and the pressure blew the radiator hose off.

We had it towed to our house and I bought a new radiator last night for it. So this morning I swapped the radiator out, and when I removed the air intake assembly from the intake manifold I noticed oil. Opened the flap and oil was covering everything inside that I can see.

So my question is, has anyone else experienced this or does anyone know what the cause could be of the oil coming up in to the intake?

I am hoping it might just be a fluke from the radiator breaking and blowing the hose off. I checked the oil, and it looks fine on the dipstick and smells like normal oil. I do plan to change the oil though asap.

I'm not sure if there is a pcv valve on these cars or not for me to check and/or replace.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Klinton

Oil puddling in the intake on these cars is normal. You can solve that problem by installing a catch can. Not related to the overheating caused by the broken radiator. Replace the radiator, swab the intake out, and get a good catch can. You'll be ok.
There are all aluminum replacement radiators available. Some have reported slight fitment issues, some haven't. Suggest you read up on the threads/posts here.

Thanks for the reply. That gives me some peace of mind atleast. I was beating my head against the wall trying to u derstand how a radiator breaking could lead to oil in the intake, lol. I will look in to the catch can. Never heard of that before.

I started the car up and it seems to be running normal just like before after the radiator swap. It just blows my mind that they would make a radiator with plastic parts...
