Hopefully this thread is still alive because I bought my car in sept of 2013 and everything worked great until a month later when it started throwing the passenger airbag code. I took it back to the dealership and they said they couldn't do the work on it because it was out of their 30 day warrantee. I have a pregnant wife that doesn't want to sit in the back so does anyone have any suggestions on how I should proceed?

This recall does not fix air bag trouble codes.

Correct. However, when I brought mine in, they took care of one I had for free. May be worth taking it to another dealership.

Agree !

I just bought my car in May and then got a recall in the mail soon after.

So I took the GXP in for the recall today..... for some "passenger seat air bag control module reprogramming"
Picked up the car hours later, and I see the air bag warning light flashing in the instrument cluster lol
With no extra time I went home and called the dealer...asking why I now have a flashing air bag light on the cluster ?

Their reply was...... Must be a issue in your air bag control module, bring it back in the morning and we'll see if we can figure it out.
Exactly why I HATE taking my car to the dealer.
I sure think a Tech should have seen this while driving out of the shop.... I mean really !

Finally got around to getting this done - having same experience as a few others. The airbag light is now on after the recall. It wasn't on prior. Is there a particular process that is followed to reprogram the the module?

I had to take mine back the next day and they fixed the issue.
More wasted time of mine at the dealership !
No light on now. Can't understand why they can't fix it right the first time ???

Re: OFFICIAL THREAD: Recall for airbags ALL G8s

Hi Zummy430,

I’m happy to hear you were able to have this recall performed, I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I can understand being without your vehicle is tough. Since you just recently had the recall completed though, the dealership would be in the best position to rectify this concern. I would be happy to schedule a follow up service appointment for you. If this is how you would be like to move forward, please send me a private message with your full contact information, VIN, mileage, and involved dealership. Either way, let us know if your light stays on or if you are able to resolve this.

Thanks,

Kayla K.

I know this is a little off-topic however I am curious. I called my local GM dealership to get my key recall done and I was told they only do recall work 8 am to 12 p.m on Monday through Friday. Is this true? I work Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m to 3:00p.m so it makes it hard for me to bring it in.
