In a few months there will only be one drag strip in AZ!

Firebird Raceway is officially closing! The last drag and drift will be in March. I plan on being there.

SpeedWorld is also closing in the next few months!

So we are left with SIR in the southeast part of Tucson. Vail. For me it is fine. I just ran a personal best of 12.21 there. The good thing is it is a good .4 slower than the other two tracks. So the odds of getting the boot for under 11.5 will be hard to accomplish.

The very bad thing for you guys in Phoenix is that this track is even 50 minutes away for me as I live in the northwest part of Tucson. It will be a long ride for you guys in Phoenix.

Hopefully someone will start working on a track in Casa Grande or Phoenix soon.

I wouldn't count Firebird out. Rumor is, the tribe will continue to run firebird, under a different name.

I hope you are right. On their site they say they are done. Sean at Top Gear Motorsport states they are done. The only rumor I heard is that in 2014 it may open up again with new owners. At any rate I will be at the test n tune in March. I am getting everything ironed out. It should be fun in March!

Speedworld is already closed until further notice. It states they are trying to work something out with the state and county officials to re open it to the racing community.

I think Firebird will be closed March 30th, 2013. I think it will reopen. Phoenix is just too big of a city to be without a drag strip.

I hope we can get all the AZ G8s out there in March! But yes, rumor still stands for firebird staying open, but under a new name. I hope the new owners have more track days n such.
