Cool Reinstalling Motor

So when i pulled the motor out, it was piecemeal work. First the timing cover then the heads and discovery of bad bearings then the motor came out.
Now that I have a long block to reinstall, i am not sure of what should be on the motor to sling it in to place.
Do I pull the motor mounts off and install them on the block then put it in place?
Exhaust manifolds? whats the simplest way to reassemble this engine bay?
Any help would be appreciated as i don't want to sit out in the heat cursing at the things I should know or have learned ahead of time....

Motor build :
Crank straightened and polished
ARP head studs, mains and Rods
.002 over on the big end of the rods. rebushed smalls. (reconditioned stockers)
New Manley intake valves.
BTR Stage II Cam Kit and springs (DOD delete)
BTR trunnion kit.
Mahle .010 over 4032 pistons forged aluminum (rings Gapped for power adders)
High volume oil pump Melling

Nothing too spectacular, after all it is a California Car. Still gotta tune it. I wound up buying the HP tuners stuff and i will need to pass smog next year.....Oh Boy!!
Thanks for all the help thats been given!!!!

When I did it, I left the heads and exhaust manifolds off, and mounted the motor mounts on the engine since they served as guides for me when dropping the block in.

I had the heads on the engine, and got it close to position, then slid the motor mounts in and lined up the trans and motor mounts all at once. Then started tightening stuff.

I would definitely leave the exhaust manifolds off to give you as much room as possible along the sides.

Don't forget to reattach the trans vent tube to the back of the driver's side head. Easier to do with the intake manifold off.

Haha. Yeah, it's a random thing. The hose was split on mine when I pulled mine apart. Not sure how it was still holding on.

Also, there is a ground wire on the wiring harness that also gets bolted to the back of the driver's side head. It's the ground for that bank of coil packs. Without it, you'll be running on 4 cylinders.

Did you check the pushrod length? And what length are you running?

Didn’t check during build, other than when I torqued rockers they had “some” preload.... I have the length written down at the house....I have messaged BTR as well. Good news is that it started cold this AM without any problems. Fired right up.... we didn’t mill the heads or deck the block. Everything was in good shape. Thanks.

Forgot to ask... what lifters?

Assuming LS7 lifters, then a 7.425 would likely be correct, or even on the long side.

I believe so. It’s what ever GM performance stuff that BTR sends out with their DOD delete kit. Wondering if this is just the way it is with a big cam. Kinda noisy though
