Reverse wire is all tied into the radio harness. Here’s the link to the install video. https://youtu.be/KGuT1_SP89Q

Just ordered mine with a bunch of other goodies today

There is a trigger wire in the harness which I believe is 12 volts to power up the camera.

Perfect. Im going to be installing a setup similar to Honda's lane watch, but needed a +12v power trigger to the head unit to make it work.

Reverse will work as normal, turn signal in either direction will activate the camera on that side, and a front camera will be powered by a button I am going to install in the little change pocket area of the console

I already have the gentex reverse camera setup, so I am going to split the signal from that to the reverse input so it shows up on both, and I am going to wire it in a way so that the turn signals take precedence. This way when I am in reverse, the trunk camera shows on my mirror and my kayhan... however, if I put on the turn signal while I am parallel parking, I can keep an eye on the curb near my rear wheel on the head unit, while still having my Gentex mirror showing the car behind me

Where are you guys mounting your reverse camera's?

Also, how does the grid sync with the turning of the steering wheel? That's a really cool feature to have for a car that wasn't equipped with it.

The steering grid is run off the steering wheel angle sensor through the can bus.

I got my Carplay/Android Adapter finally, I went with the Carlinkit unit from Aliexpress. I had to change the app installed vs the one that comes pre-installed but otherwise it works just fine. It will launch automatically when the phone is plugged in and no pop ups when it's not in use like they were getting in the install video. The app itself has the option to check for updates to both it and the firmware on the dongle and update both through it.

I found that you can enable 720p and 1080p video in the developer options of the Android Auto application. To me the maps look clearer but I wanna do some comparing when I get a chance to see if it actually makes a difference.

Borrowed from another forum - "To get Developer mode open Android Auto on your phone while it's not connected to the car, go to the 'About' section of the menu and tap the 'Android Auto' title on that page 10 times. You should then get an additional menu at the top right, including 720p and 1080p, and manual control for night and day mode."

I have the file if anyone needs it, or hit them up on facebook.
Can you send me the file, I'm not sure if mine was updated before they shipped it out to me?

Just spoke with them- Very helpful! I had more questions, so I figured I would post up what they said to help others.

They claim with no parking sensors, that section of the screen will not show up when you go into reverse- Can anyone confirm?

The gridlines can be turned off. They are helpful on here since they move with the steering angle, but for me I wanted to make sure of this since I am using the module to tie in front and blind spot cameras. Didnt want those same lines there. My reverse camera already actually has gridlines which I can turn off as well, but I will leave them since I am going to turn it off on the unit

New units are being shipped with the carplay not connected message gone... Also, they said its a setting in the app that you can have it open automatically when phone is connected- you dont have to manually go to the app and open it

Screen mirroring can be done wirelessly- The unit sets up a hotspot to connect to allow functionality like this

To change the look and feel of the home screen, you can download an android launcher (they recommend AGAMA

Reading through this thread it sounds like there is a lot of screwing around with this, I recognize that it is a 10 year old car and doesn't have back up cams etc and I am fine with that. All I really am looking for is a modern upgrade for Nav and Blue Tooth connectivity and does it provide that seamlessly? I use to be into tinkering with all that stuff but these days I have too many other hobbies that I get distracted so I want to be able to just plug it in and use it with minimal screwing around.

A similar radio from another company offers themes for the UI interface. They seem to be using the same firmware like our units for G8.

I am still waiting on my headunit to arrive so cant test.

Can anyone confirm if these units have themes option available?

Instructions:
1. Go to Settings > System Version > press and hold the system version screen until numbers pop-up > type 7890 > System.
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen until you see UI Num: and UI Style:.
2. Change both of these selections to match each other similar to the picture below, so both themes have the same theme name in them. Restart your radio for changes to take affect.

The car still shows up under the video screen regardless if you have sensors or not.

How did they say you can turn the grid off? I turned mine off somehow and can't figure out how to turn them back on. They haven't been able to tell me how to either yet.

It requires an app on your phone to work with the one they have pre-installed, it just mirrors whatever is on your phone screen.

The carplay thing is just an update of the third party app they are using, that's not an issue with the radio itself.

No idea why the pics are sideways, they open fine on my PC and my phone but there's the back up camera view and the mirroring app.

It just changes the top icons and there's only three options. I do like the common one.

Yes, the other option looks clean too, I'd say the one they picked for out of the box is worst

Mine arrived within about 6 days after ordering. Missed it yesterday, so waiting on the redelivery. Came to $710 shipped. Bought the CarPlay dongle on Amazon as others have.

Anyone go from a VIM enabled stock headunit to this? I've got an old VIM box setup that I'm going to have to pull... hoping that doesnt mess with anything for the backup cam.
