I can confirm that the BLUE Remote wire in that adapter harness works in my GXP .

I'm in a similar boat with respect to replacing the OEM speakers that I believe are failing in my vehicle.

I'm not looking for anything spectacular but I suppose anything will be better than stock...

Front Doors: Infinity PR6510CS Primus Series Automotive Component System - 2.7 ohms, 80W RMS, 88dB. Cutout size of 127mm (5"). This comes with replacement front speakers and separate tweeters.

Rear Doors: Infinity Primus PR6512IS 6.5" Two-way Multi-element Speaker Set - 2.7 ohms, 55W RMS, 88dB. Cutout size of 127mm (5"). This comes with tweeters mounted onto the speakers which matches the rear coaxial OEM speakers setup.

Specifications for both above:

Information on the Primus speakers:

Rear deck (optional for me, 2 are needed): Kicker Cvr8 - 2 ohms. Discontinued. Kicker CompR 8" 2-Ohm Subwoofer might be a suitable replacement.

Speaker adapters (need four total for the doors): Metra 72-9300 Speaker Connector.

Baffles to protect speakers from water (need 4 total): Design Engineering 050331 Boom Mat Speaker Baffles, 6.5" Round Slim (Pack of 2).

I haven't purchased any of these yet but I believe this might be the inexpensive solution/ticket, providing a superior audio experience, all while maintaining the factory radio and amplifier.

Different Infinity models, and even a different Kicker model than I went with, but highly agree with GXP25 above. The Infinity speakers I found were still true 2ohms, and I actually did Kicker DVC 4ohm subs for the back and just wired them in parallel so they are down to 2ohm. The only thing I will say about the rear doors is that I had to trim the hell out of the foam baffles to get everything to slip in to the doors. And I had to just screw them down into the doors without the factory plastic piece, without the plastic piece Infinity gives you, and yeah, I had to just screw into the sheet metal but it's very easy to do.

The baffles are an absolute must for this car. Protection from water is obviously the main reason, but I also installed everything without baffles and then with baffles to hear the difference. There absolutely is a sound difference as well.

The only thing I add to GXP's list above is to also get the 8" baffles for the subs and something for a little sound deadening on the rear deck. The baffles for the subs definitely helped, but also make for a much cleaner look in the trunk as well.
