same issue

Odd this these items would be leaking on a car that has been only in the garage. Good thing I still have warranty or else i'd be doing it myself.
Hey there I had the same issue at 16,530. The dealer put tracer dye in it and found it was the rear main seal. They owned up to it and told me that this is a known issue with the blocks, due to the way the block is cast. The service manager told me the metal is very porous in that area. Mine is at 23,000, and no issues since. :gears::gears:

leak

Glad they took care of it. Did they mention if its an updated part or repair?
No updated part, all they do is replace the rear main seal, then use gray etc on the sealing surface of the block where it is porous. The dealer I went to was great. I asked if I could see the problem before and after it was fixed. They called me up when it was apart so I can see the issue first hand. Best of all all repairs done at this dealer are covered for life. So if it happens again I won't have to pay for it. Since it was covered by the warranty, I didn't pay a single penny. I did however buy pizza for the service crew that handled my repair.
