Anyone have problems with the A/C belt being thrown on there 6.0L. I replaced the belts at about 80K. Showed micro cracks. Now at 100K it is throwing the A/C belt? Tensioner? A/C works fine when it is on. I could blame it on the 6500RPM it recently has been pulled to but it happened before this. What do other owners think? Happen to anyone else? It is 90 plus today.

Not every car has had this problem multiple times, however, it is common enough for folks to install the revised bracket. Just search for g8 upgraded A/C Bracket or something similar. You'll find it.

It's a bit pricey, but it'll solve your problem.

I'm on the fence bout it myself. In the 158K miles I've had the G8, it's only done it once.

Mine started jumping off around 40k miles. I installed the the revised/upgraded A/C tensioner bracket and haven't had any problems since. Now at 105k.

A shorter belt may or may not fix the problem. Many people installed the revised air conditioner bracket 92252927 for a more permanent solution. Also, be sure to check the conditioner of the tensioner. Believe the belt part number for the updated bracket is 92244381, but am not 100% positive.

There is a tsb. To be brief, a resonance occurs along the ac belt span between the dampener and the ac pulley at a specific rpm range. Depending on driving style, crossing the range will result in the belt jump off. The revised bracket adds a second idler changing the belt length and eliminating the resonance.

This is why a shorter belt, a stretchy belt or replaced tensioner does not solve the problem as none of them change the distance between the pulleys - regardless of what the internet engineers think.

Yes, the bracket is expensive but better to change it out once and have peace of mind instead of constantly dealing with a belt that jumps.

After i started making some serious hp, my G8 started to toss the belt. I purchased the revised bracket from Holden parts U.S.A and the problem was completely eliminated.

That's great information. You just saved me some research time thank you. So far I am exploring a gates replacement bracket and tensioner combination for the 6.0L. I will post what I find when I have good facts and it could save us allot $.

Very well. Had relatively good success with Gates products and is the air conditioner belt being replaced? If so, what brand? Prefer Continental Elite formerly Goodyear Gatorback over AcDelco belts any day of the week.

Does the gates solution change the span distance between AC and Dampener? If not, might as well price out a new ac compressor and cam sensor as the belt is known to take one or both out. If lucky, you may find just a AC pulley as I read someone sourced just the pulley recently.

I just replaced my bracket a couple weeks ago (my car is at 52k). It may be pricey but I would rather spend a little cash on that than have to replace other parts that were taken out by the belt jumping.

After my cam I had to get the revised bracket as my belt kept on coming off. No problems since.

Does it have the two tensioner set up on it?

Here's a shot of the current vs upgraded, if it's the same as the upgraded and cheaper it might be a good option.

Just spend the $200 on the upgraded tensioner from Holdenpartsusa and be done with it. One less thing to have to worry about. Mine kept slipping off about once a week and has been perfect since I upgraded.
