My 23k-mile 2009 G8 GT is making a strange chatter/rattle sound. It doesn't sound like it's coming from the engine bay; rather, it sounds like it's coming from underneath the rear of the vehicle. Rear differential maybe?

Don't think it's the rear differential since the rattle is occurring while the vehicle is stationary i.e.parked and the driveshaft nor the gears in the differential are spinning. Would check the heat-shield(s) for tightness i.e. snug bolts. Also, try pushing up on the mufflers or other parts of the exhaust to see if the rattle lessens or goes away. Good luck.

Man, I hate when people come up behind my car and start hitting the exhaust with the palm of their hand, it makes me think the differential or something is going! :wink3::wink3:
