I
I would appreciate suggestions for cold air induction systems for GXP. I wanted to go with K and N but they say they only have a kit for the 6.0L GT and because the GXP is so rare they cannot guarantee if it would install on the 6.2L GXP without modifications, which is important to me. Recommendations would be helpful. Thanks.

I am (an will always have to be) stock. They show that the air outlet ducting section from the TB had a 1st an 2nd design (along with different P/N's assigned to them). My take is that the 09 mid year GT's an the GXPs had a water pump design change. That change might of changed the routing of the upper radiator coolant hose. If that is so, it may have compromised the ducting layout used by that company. But you might get lucky, an maybe get a post from a member that has verified that (that) K & N part worked just fine as it came from the vendor for their GXP, or what mods were required to make it work.

While your at it, it might be better to get your Thread switched over to the *Intake/Fuel Tech* section (which is a more appropriate location).

I used a RAMJET for years - really liked it. Just had to move the trans cooler a bit for it to fit. That was the only appreciable difference from the GT. for OTR CAI, most go with the VCM. Otherwise, the Rotofab will serve you well!

If I were to do it again. I’d go with a vcm intake. I have a roto fab right now but feel an otr intake is the best option

Why is an OTR better than the Rotofab intake system? A lot of the big tuners out there like Livernois etc offer this style over the OTR even with their supercharger packages so I am was just curious what everyone's opinion is and why? Thanks in advance.

Car came with a rotofab that had a broken filter housing so I upgraded to the VCM OTR, very happy with the quality and fit. Changing the filter is a bit tricky but to be expected. Plus looks a lot more stealth. I believe there is some legit science to "ram air" but I don't have any dyno numbers to back this up

I believe any of the aftermarket cold air intakes will be an improvement over the stock, multi-chambered, convoluted stock intake. I've had my Rotofab with dry element on since 2009 and have been very pleased with the fit and performance.

Same as SRM6...roto fab with dry filter. I had it for almost 9 years, and last year upgraded to their high flow kit with ls7 maf...would do it again in a heartbeat.

vararam guy here, but on a GT for what that's worth. I don't love the titled radiator, but have not observed an issue from it in the 9 years I've had it. Easy to pull the filter out and clean every year too. 2nd vote would be the ossrom, but I just dont see the added cost unless you're really looking for a cleaner look.

VTM or Orssom?

Orssom or VTM?

A CAI is on my to-do list this year. I thought I had settled on the VTM, but the Orssom has its charms. I like the larger air inlet. I'm still leaning toward the VTM, since it does look more OEM and it includes a filler panel for the old airbox opening in the fender well. Plus they dropped the price on the kit by $100 at the end of last year.

I like my Orssom a lot .It fits great and has proven to be a great mod for me. I posted the gains that I got from just the Orssom before ,It was 33 HP and 28 TQ over the stock air-box with no other mods. The no leaning the radiator back is what sold it for me ,I had the Vararam in my first car and the tilled back radiator caused the a/c and power steering to leak ,and after that the bill for that,I said I would never do that again.I have some pics of how it fits and where it sets in relation to the hood vents ,Ill see if I can find them to post up .Bottom line is I like the Orssom and would buy it again .

FWIW, I have had VCM and Roto. Dig in this and the other forum, there is 1320 data showing the VCM making a difference. But in the end, it's all personal preference. The Roto says "hey, lookie over here, I have a filter just like the subies and hondas". I preferred the VCM with filler panels. Looked stock, no one could tell it was not - what I wanted - functionality and stock appearing.
