G8 REAR END STUTTER

430 Views 11 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  JCMG8
my G8 has developed a bit of a rear end stutter. It only happens at slow speeds when starting from a stop, and is more noticeable when turning from a stop.
MY G8 HAS THIS STUTTER AND IVE ALREADY RULED OUT MY CENTRAL SUPPORT BEARING FOR THE DRIVESHAFT ASWELL AS OTHER DRIVESHAFT RELATED CAUSES PLEASE HELP.

I don't really know how to diagnose, but it sounds like it could be the limited slip differential.
LOOKING AT THE REAR DIF IVE NOTM SEEN ANY ISSUES AND HAVE HAD THE OIL INSIDE OF IT REPLACED ALREADY TO TRY ADN SOLVE PROBLEM BUT THAT DIDNT DO ANYTHING, IT OCCURS WITH THE STABILITRAK ON OR OFF IT DOESNT MATTER, THE STUTTER OCCURS EVERYTIME WITHOUT FAIL COMING FROM A FULL STOP, THE ONLY TIME IT DOES HAPPEN IS UNDER VERY LIGHT THROTTLE LIKE 5% BUT OTHER THAN THAT IT HAPPENS EVERYTIME AND ONLY UNTIL YOU ARE GOING ABOUT 5MPH THEN IT CUTS OUT

sorry work computer always has caps lock on
Try starting in 2nd gear, see if it repeats.

Are you thinking maybe torque converter or shift solenoid?

ill give this a shot leaving work today see if anything changes
Well, thinking something in transmission. Other debug would be to pick rear up and check posi works correctly. Lasty would be an engine miss, I suspect codes would be throw if engine.

ITS NOT THROWING ANY ENGINE CODES OTHERT THANM THE OCCASION LEAN CODE, however the stutter has been occuring since before the lean codes started popping up

tried to start in both second and third just to see if it changed and nothing changed as it still made the same stutter, in sport shift it still stutters aswell.
at this point, I'd get a log of the trans slip (hptuners). Picking the rear wheels up can verify the operation of the diff. I suspect if diff, it would be obvious under WOT if the clutches are toast or worse, a chipped gear.

Stutter can still be a engine miss. Log file would show it.
OP - update? find it?
