I had a massive post written. It was great, I was almost done and I accidentally closed the window.:banghead:

Anyway to sum it up the G8.... I keep coming back to it even with my fear of the lifter issue. I fear this due to I will be cutting it very close financially to get the G8. So any sudden catastrophic issues like this will be difficult. However it has literally everything I want/need. It is the only car I have been able to extend my legs while driving. (I'm 6'6")

Cars to compare:

06+ M45
11 Charger RT
06 E55 AMG
07 S4

Main things I need/want is:

Power / Gas Mileage / Rear leg room hip room / Price
G8 GT 355-361hp 15/24 39.4 58.0 14k-24k
384lbft
06+ M45 325-335hp 16/21 37.3 53.9 10k-18k
340Lbft
11 Charger RT 370hp 16/25 40.1 56.1 14k-22k
395lbft
06 E55 AMG 469hp 15/21 35.6 ?? 12k+
516Lbft
07 S4 340hp 15/21 34.3 ?? 12k-18k
302?lbft

The main ones I am truly looking at, other than the G8, are the M45 due to cost and familiarity for me and the Charger. Same size and power is good... but its a dodge and a boat.

What do you all think? Any other large RWD/AWD V8 options that are in those ranges?

I'm 6'5". I just bought one last week...it is very comfortable. I don't even have the seat all the way back and I fit with ease.

The lifter issue is overblown.

Exactly! Worried about headroom. It actually has one of the lowest headroom clearance of all of those vehicles.

I also looked into BMW 7 series, 5 series, Lexus GS460, LS460, etc.... Still come back to the G8.

I drove myself nuts over the lifter issue after I bought mine. I even went as far as piecing together a cheap ls3 cam swap. I have everything but lifters and gaskets then my worries slowly faded over time. I love mine, but every year there is always something better. At first I was over the moon just having an auxiliary jack, but I wouldn't mind having Bluetooth, backup camera, navigation etc. The prices of newer cars are just out of my league right now. Good luck on your search and as someone that has had mine going on 2 years I love it.

Lifter issue is over blown. I was scared when I first got mine. I got over it!
I'd say this is true until it happens to you. :) In my case, I wasn't upset at all because it lead to a cam upgrade along with other stuff I had been wanting to do.

OP, get the G8 and call it a day. It's the first car I've never gotten tired of.
