Due to a HP upgrade, I need wider wheels/tires. My son and I have looked at dozens of wheels, and the only thing we seem to agree on is we like the stock 19". He nags worse than my wife if things aren't just so on 'his' car. I almost had him convinced on TSW Nurburgrings, but, he didn't like some aspect of them.

I looked at getting the rears widened, but that is $300 each with powder coating, so $700 overall plus some minor repair to one wheel and tax and 1-2 weeks without being able to use the car.

We really like the looks of some of the CCW wheels, but no way I can afford those.

We don't care for black wheels. Does anyone have suggestions for wheels that are no more than $325 each?

He doesn't like Camaro 20" "The spokes are too skinny."

I have the breyton GTF2's on mine. They're hard to see in the picture on tirerack.com's site, but there's some better pictures in my post when I got them put on. You can get them for under $700 shipped if memory serves (on clearance), and the you'll only need a 5mm spacer for the fronts if you do Brembos. If he thinks the Camaro spokes are to skinny, he might not like the GTF2's either but it's worth a shot.

I can provide other angles/pictures if you want, they look MUCH better on the car vs. the straight on side view from tire rack.

Is he wanting big "blingy" wheels or just something stock looking?

NO! He and I can't stand that look. He isn't a fan of a bunch of spokes and neither am I (too hard to clean). Probably the most spokes we would like would be like the CTS-V or GXP wheels. Five spoke are more my style, but he doesn't like to see the rotors and calipers (no Brembos here, sadly).

Well the CTS-V/GXP wheels show off the calipers... You could always post in the WTB section for a couple Sport 19 wheels and then you don't have downtime while you wait for them to be re-sized.

Google VMR wheels (velocity motoring) you'll see some spectacular wheels for decent prices. So many choices out there so little time. I dig my Forgestars also but if I had the money, I'd go with ADV.1's. Nothing else compares. Good luck OP!!!

Thanks for all the input. I liked the Forgestars, but... the kid whose inheritance I am spending wasn't thrilled.

You have the biggest selection of wheels for your car in the entire world and you cannot find something? There are just so many good looking quality wheels out there for G8s at reasonable prices.

OK have a look at these Concept One brand wheels - the CSM-7 to be precise. These are one of the best looking silver wheels on a G8 and because there are 14 spokes in total they do not show a lot of brake components .

LS3G8 won SEPT 2012 G8 of the month with these 20" wheels on his car and that is no surprise. It is a beautiful car. See here:

(He has more pictures of this car on his own web site).

You can get these in 20 x 9 inch and 35 offset. Put these on all 4 corners in the 9 inch and you can run Front 255-35 20 (or 245-35 -20) tires and REAR 275-30-20 tires on the car but you will need to roll the rear guards.

Maybe these are a little above your price point but they are under $390 a wheel retail in 20 x 9.

Part of the problem is that there are so many choices. He loves my car and wants it to be "perfect."

None of those pesky spokes to worry about.

If you really like the stock 19s and cannot have the downtime I would purchase 2 used ones off of a member here.

Since they will be refinished you can pick up some in poor condition for cheap (maybe $300). After you get the wheels done you can sell your current rears and make that back.

Braelin BR01 5 spoke design

An example of VMR wheels are the V713. It's spokey but not bicycle spokey.

Kartattack, you and your son both sound old school, and I LIKE that! Your descriptions of what you like and don't like match mine as well. When I was looking for wheels, I almost bought the TSW Valencia's. I think they have that GXP/CTS flavor while not looking too "meshy". I ended up keeping the Sport wheels when I realized that the style of wheel I like is already on the car :) But check out the Valencias. Another thing I liked is that they have a lip. I like a lip. Not a big fan of the wheel design flush with the sidewall of the tire:
