I will keep my G8 GXP thank you very much. Not bad cars, any of them, but the reason I bought the G8 GXP was for the engine and powertrain. Nothing like having a 4 door corvette sitting in the garage. Any when you mod them. Look out!

This is the new Buick Regal. But we only get pathetic 4 cylinders. the best thing that could happen to Buick's reputation would be to bring the fire breathing AWD turbo V6 VXR version here so G8 owners could get a second car that performs as well. Can you say Gran National?

Please don't throw around the Grand National name on a 4 door AWD car. Love my G8 and its 4 doors but the GN needs to be a coupe if it ever comes back.

There has always been talk about having "World Platforms" GM North America appears to be afraid of the better cars from other divisions.
Is there room for econobox FWD cars in GM, Yes that part of the market has to be served. Everything in the Malibu platform and up should be a RWD model or have and AWD option. If GM was smart they would bring several of the European and Austrailian models to North America and let people test drive them. The average is going to want a softer ride, but most will enjoy the better ride and handling.

"If we get this we won't miss G6" (We did ... sorta)

I've followed this thread since 'the Chief' started it in April 2009 with the title "If we get this we won't miss G6" mainly because I thought the car looked nice. Time finally brought to light, after many guesses, that it would be the Buick Regal in USA.

I fast fwd to March 2011 and the Regal Turbo models were now at dealers. At same time wife was seriously pressing for her "nice car to drive". After looking a various makes/models, a Regal-T was targeted IF I found the 2.0L Ecotech Turbo (rated 220hp/256lb-ft torque) moved the car with some reasonable degree of satisfaction. Surprising to me, it exceeded expectations. No, ya won't get billowing smoke from spinning tires by stomping the throttle from a dead stop. But once rolling, it can get to a 100mph quite nicely! With two friends in the car, luggage, etc. I drove interstates I95 and I85/40 from VA to Burlington NC for the May 2011 Turbo Buick National meet (as former 87 BuickGN owner myself; one my friends is Nick, ala,www.arizonagn.com/) . My avg speed was 69.4mph; my 87 octane mileage was 33.3mpg..SWEET!. I let several at the meet who were very curious about the car drive it. Their feedback generally was along the lines, "Damn, that's a nice car'.

Perhaps I'll regret some that i (we) didn't wait some more months for the Regal GS model to arrive with the Ecotech 2.0L tuned to 255hp/295 torque + styling tweeks. But with the personal, GM $1000.00 discount certificate i had for buying the 09 G8GT about to expire; a $500 general discount available + dealer where i got my G8 giving me 'employee pricing' + the accessory sport/bright pedals & tube touch-up paint in the deal, it became a no-brainer to get our Expresso Bronze Metallic Regal Turbo, with the bright brown/biege interior and T04 option package. BTW, with its premium Harman-Kardon sound system there's no need to find the amplifiers and tweek knobs to get a great, sound!

It's a nice car!
