Hey everyone, I am looking into buying a G8 GT in the next week or two. Found one near my home town with 144k miles on it for 17k dollars. Is it worth it or should I go for a lower mileage for a few more thousand dollars? And overall what is a life expectancy of a 2008-09 G8 GT? What do the repairs look like after 100k miles? Also what would be some good things to check out while I'm looking at the car and test driving it?
Thank You

Welcome to the forum. Both depend on condition and maintenance. Take it to a reputable repair shop for a pre-purchase inspection or get a mechanic to inspect it prior to test driving.

I didn't have any issues until about 170,000 miles. In the last 10,000 miles, broken lifter, scraped up camshaft, A/C leak, Airbag warning, tear in the driver seat, and maybe some oil pressure issues. Despite all the issues, I still love the car and wish I could keep it forever (but I really ought to spend my time and money on my family instead).

Not sure where you are located or the condition of the car, but that seems on the high side with that mileage although one sold at auction today for almost $19k with fees but ~ 20k less miles.

A member has one listed here for $16k with ~ 20k less miles I would take a look at.

Only problem I have with auctions is you don’t get to drive it first. If it hasn’t been serviced properly you’ll feel it in the drive.

I have a built 2009 Sport Red G8 GT here in Naples, FL bought new by me, with only 45,000 miles on it. It has DOD Delete, Vector spec. 1.5 Cam, Circle D 3000 stall, G Force Axles and much more. I planned on taking it to the strip a few times each winter, but only did it once several years ago. Turned an 12.072 at 115. Sorta lost interest as I also have a 16' C7 Vette here, and I'm now 77 years old. Firm on $25K. I also have a 2008 White G8 GT with fewer mods and only 46K miles, at our Iowa summer home. Also have another C7 Vette there, so really should sell it too. Both were purchased New here in SW FLA and have all options. They are at least 8 out of 10 and drive like new. Use them frequently, but don't go anywhere far any more.
