Lowest GXP serial number
I , mistakenly? , thought all GXPs were in the 300's

Looking further were there possibly 4 with sub 300 serials ?

6G2EP57WX9L168076
6G2EP57WX9L182222
6G2EP57WX9L208723
6G2EP57W79L208713

The other 2 show up in random vin lists so I don't even know if they are real.
The Canadian unicorns maybe ?
.
Thanks for any info

Gerry

Edit, found more, so under 300 serials are not uncommon ?

VINs that start with a 3 are 2009.5 that have the cupholders and bluetooth.

Sorry, nowhere did I ask that question.

My questions were about sub 300 serial GXPs

I was , mistakenly , under the impression that all GXPs were 09.5 cars and am asking how many were under the 300 break.

I don't know off hand. You may want to check the gxp registery thread here on our board. Joe keeps track of all gxps and their owners in existence

This is kind of weird but the VIN: 6G2EP57WX9L208723, 3rd in your list I just bought last week. Not sure what you are asking though.

Sent you a PM.

Now here is a question, looking under the hood , does the upper rad hose come out of the water pump to the passengers side , or the drivers side of the throttle body?
Thanks

I was wondering if that is what they did .
But if that is the case , does not GM use the serial break when ordering parts?
The parts list seems to just say 09 or 9 1/2 break.
How do they actually determine if the car is one or the other?

Serial 6G2EP57WX9L168076 is way before my wifes Jun 08 assembled GT
Would be very interesting to see if that car had the 09.5 stuff.

GM uses the BSI option code to designate the 2009.5 cars. It is not a VIN break

Thank you Greg,

While not unfamiliar with the system I totally missed the BSI in the parts book as an RPO

For some reason I was thinking the BSI was some abbreviation or something.

Checking, I see now 6G2EP57WX9L168076 has RPO BSI

So the 300 break is nothing more than a rough guide line and the were some 09.5 cars built before other 09 cars.
Thanks again for the clarification
Gerry

so GXPs ARE 09.5s, but werent made after the 09.5s GTs were finished being built. GXPs must have been thrown in the mix during production.

By combining several data bases put together by several members over the years it looks like the first 20 GXPs built were in the 200000 series. From build 21 on they were all in the 300000 series. See the attached excerpt from the complete data base. It also looks like all GXPs were 2009 models based on the VIN decoder ring provided many moons ago by a member with access to the data. PM me if you want the full data bases I have to support this.

I will pop in here with a little bit of clarification. It's been a couple of years since we found the 1,829th VIN (thanks again Greg for all the help!). Since then, there have been no new GXPs that have popped up, and I was pretty certain that the Registry was complete. Then 95wagon made the post above, and it has thrown things a bit out of wack.

First let me note that 3 of the cars that we had on the list were a bit strange when I did additional digging. They showed up as "2EP69" which is the code for a Pontiac G8 GXP, but they were listed as "2EP69 - 2009 VE - Commodore". Otherwise they were equipped identically to a Pontiac G8 GXP, including the following production codes "V9R - Merchandised Pkg Pontiac G8 GXP" & "XQ3 - Equipment Pontiac". These cars never left Australia based on Service data. The car at the top of the list 9L168076 is like that as well. However, 9L182222 is a legitimate Pontiac G8 GXP, and was one of the original GM Show Cars (10-P.E.P./SPL EVENT) (although it was Scrapped by GM on 6/23/2009). That makes it the lowest VIN of a Pontiac G8 GXP that has been found. This discrepancy, along with a deviation from the original Color Production numbers makes me think that those other 3 cars that stayed in Australia have been incorrectly counted amongst the legitimate Pontiac G8 GXPs. I suspect strongly that there are still 2 real Pontiac G8 GXPs out there that are undocumented so far. I strongly suspect that these are also very early build cars. Now it's time for a great deal of manual searching to confirm this. I will update everyone as soon as I can with more info.

Thanks very much for your help and input.

How does one get access to this registry?
Gerry
I am curious too. Looking for build information on my car I recently purchased? Which shows to be #18 - 208723 from first post in this quote.

The Registry has not been launched online yet, and it's a good thing I hadn't now that we have discovered the discrepancy. Folks send me PMs, emails, & messages, and I am able to answer questions & provide info free of charge. Once I get this sorted out, I plan to launch a G8 GXP Registry website where all the information will be available to the general public.
