Just finished an LS3 crate motor swap on a buddies car. Had to swap one sensor, and dropped it right in. Stock heads, cam, and all. We did add a B&M flexplate and 3200 Circle D stall. Other mods were already on the car. VR, PaceSetters, 2.5 exhaust, 3.45 gears, BMR suspension, and me tuning it. Previous best with bolt-on L76 was 12.6x @ 113. New motor has less than 1K miles on it. Went 12.0x three times in a row, and then 11.97!! Pretty damn happy about that.

It's not the .2 liters it the DOD elimination and the better cam/profile and the stall is making a big difference.

What was the 60 ft time?

1.72 was his best 60' I think. The LS3 cam and stall are the biggest gains. We're really happy with it so far

From essentially a stock GXP with a VR, exhaust, stall, and tune??

This is a bone stock LS3 crate motor.

I went 11.33 @ 121 all motor with more left in it. There is always someone faster. Just posting the results of this swap for anyone interested. I'm happy with it, he's happy with it, and I think there is more in it when it has more than 600 miles on it.

The d.a definitely has a lot to do with it. But still a great running car none the less.

Man that's pretty impressive especially that mph! I've been considering that swap once my motor goes definitely a good option.

That's awesome. I swapped a new crate LS3 in with a Livernois 1C cam into my car recently with full exhaust but don't have a stall. Pretty traction limited, I was only able to pull off a 12.5x with a 2.0x 60'. Street tires so i couldn't hammer out of the hole and then it would spin bad on the 1-2 shift.

I'm not trying to hurt your feelings or anything like that. I'm looking at it from a factual view point. The crate LS3 is rated at 430hp the L76 is rated at 361. There is a 69hp difference. With the same mods done to each I would have expect a larger gap in the ET. I'm curious what RWHP your buddy's car is making. Has he had it on a dyno?

Last time it was on the dyno was with the bolt-on L76, and it made around 365rwhp. No dyno time with the new motor yet. Just street tuning with HP Tuners. I've seen other full bolt-on L76 and LS3 cars with a stall run similar times. I would assume that he is somewhere in the 420/420 range at the rear wheels. I think that we will eventually get a little more out of it, but I don't expect much more with a stock LS3 cam.

For comparison, one of the other cars there was a intake, exhaust, tune (otherwise stock motor), 3.45's, and stall L76 GT with a 100 shot, and she ran [email protected]. Same gears and stall as the LS3 swapped car.

Another car that was there is a high mile stock L76 with a Spectre CAI and Corsa cat-back. He ran a traction limited [email protected].

Also, I know my last two new motors really loosened up after a couple of thousand miles.

My bolton L76 with a smaller stall and worse DA ran a 12.0 last Friday.
What was your trap speed, just out of curiosity? That is one of the quickest stock-cammed L76 cars I have seen.

My trap was 112.49. I'm hoping to get back to the track once more this year and put it in the 11's. My car is making 369RWHP and 392RWTQ.

Impressive for an L76!

Mine made 376/390 with full bolt-ons, and trapped just shy of 114. I could never get it to 60' with the stock stall though. My plan was to put a stall in it with the stock can to see what she would do, then I brike the timing tensioner and hurt the bottom end. So, it's a 403 stroker now :)
