First of all i live in canada. i bought my g8 gt with no keys. since then i bought a new ignition lock cylinder and 2 key, one folding and one non folding. saturday i spent all day trying to learn the keys with no such luck. i just keep getting engine immobilzed activated by hotwire drivers door passenger door trunk etc. am i missing something or do i have to go to the dealer. really dont wanna have it towed thats starting to get old. anyways thanks in advance and thanks for adding me

Do the new keys have the transponder chips in them? If they do and the 30 minute procedure is not working, it's gonna need a trip to a dealer.

im pretty sure they do. you can see what looks like epoxy on the edge of the non flip key and rock auto said they come with randomly assigned key codes. so i guess the dealer it is. gonna have too wait till spring now.
