Hello, first post here. I am going to replace rear shocks on my '09 GT. I want to replace all parts related to the shocks at one time. I have found all parts needed, except the dust covers. GM Part # 92167840 is not in stock anywhere. As I am going to use the Camaro upper mounts with the bushing installed already, will the Camaro dust covers GM Part # 22836732 fit? I want to use all new parts and save old parts as an assembly for spares. Thanks in advance for helping. I have been gathering parts for a complete suspension rebuild with advice from the forum.

They are just dust covers. Clean and reuse if they are not cracked. Or buy aftermarket ones if they are. No one will see them.

I understand completely, but I don't want to disassemble the shocks . I also would rather use a GM part. When I replace the struts and shocks I would like to keep the old ones as a complete unit. Thanks for the reply. I have read a lot of your posts over the years, and you have helped me make decisions on what to do with my car. Still would like to know if the Camaro ones will fit, if anyone knows.

Thanks for the info. I'll wait and see if GM gets some back in stock, since they fit up to 2017. If not I'll figure out a good alternative.

The Camaro one looks like it incorporates a washer into the top end. I wonder if a washer could be eliminated from the G8 shock and use the Camaro boot.

Rock Auto shows to have the 92167840 cover in stock and to verify contact them prior to ordering.

That's what I thought about the Camaro one also. Since the Camaro upper shock mounts fit the G8, the shock stem is the same size. By the time I went to Rock Auto and put them in cart they were gone. Thanks for the heads up though.

Occasionally, on Rock Auto a part appears to be in stock and attempting to add it to the cart reveals it's not available for purchase. Generally speaking, the part catalog screen will show out of stock notify when available. Didn't try adding the covers to the cart earlier before typing so pardon the error.

Not a problem, got to love computer inventory systems. At least RA let's you know if they have it in stock when you order, not like GM.
