No doubt the ZL1 turned that time. It is hard to compare that time to times from C&D editors behind the wheel though.

I think I even remember reading somewhere where they said during one of the runs (C&D that is) that they thought they could get more time out of a car, but weren't willing to risk punting it into a wall.

So, it will be interesting to see how they do next year at the Lightning lap driven by an enthusiast and not a crazy ass engineer! ;)

For all of you saying impressive driver, watch this video:

Ya, I believe it was the same driver that drove the ZL1, I know it was the same day.

That is the "old" GT500 and there's a big difference between a pro driver and a magazine editor.

You are missing line 28 and 33 at the beginning... the LS Boss and the 2011 GT500.... those are not old :slap:

I wouldn't consider an Engineer a professional driver....

I didn't miss anything. If you paid attention to detail (which clearly is not the case), I said "old"... as in not the 2013. That is the prior model... short 100 hp and a whole bunch of new toys.:slap:

Make no mistake though... the prior GT500 (properly equipped) was capable of the same or better raw handling and braking numbers as the ZL-1. The '13 is going to be even better with improvements in the power department, suspension, brakes, Torsen diff, and launch control.
This was the comment I was referring to. Which was not correct and that is what I was showing you by the standings.

That's all.

Don't point out logic to Ford owners. They don't get it. Seems iceman is already a typical Mustang owner who can see no wrong with Ford at all. Even with "facts" that go against what he says. Facts never did stop a Ford fan.

You guys need to brush up on your reading skills. I said "raw" numbers. Let me translate for you. That means the prior GT500 matches the ZL-1 in instrumented testing. Look up the skidpad and braking performance. I never said anything about lap times on that specific track. As a "typical Mustang owner", I'll highlight another fact... you guys need to expand your vocabulary and not make assumptions. I can read lap times just fine. I guess you both need to work on reading sentences.:p

Clearly, the ZL-1 has more going for it than raw handling and breaking numbers. Compared to the prior GT500, it has more power, better rubber, better diff, more advanced traction control, and a superior suspension setup. Some of those advantages are gone against the '13 GT500. It will make for an interesting comparison when the cars are driven by the same driver, in the same conditions, on the same day.

Oh, don't try and twist what you meant. It was pretty obvious what you were getting at. Just a typical Ford owner who thinks his car is now king **** and everything else sucks. It's funny how quick it changes people.

All I know is the Camaro ZL1 looks BADASS!!! Lol I respect the new GT500 but even the ford engineers and execs said the new car won't live up to all the 200 mph hype and other advertising they've been pushing unless,

1. Car has Slicks
2. Ideal weather and track conditions
3. Professional road course driver.

I see a lot of GT 500's being smashed because of knuckleheads trying to hit 200mph! Lol

We should be talking about the fact that the ZL1 beat a GTR, not comparing cars when one of them isn't even out yet! All in good time boys, all in good time. I guess the Chevy is the real deal after all.

No kidding... again though, Iceman has a point. Different days and track conditions for the GT-R vs when the ZL1 ran. Although I suspect the GT-R had more favorable track conditions.

The biggest difference is we're comparing times set by an engineer (who obviously is also a VERY good driver), to those of a magazine editor...

I too cannot wait for the GT500 - ZL1 head to head comparison at Lightning Lap next year....

I said exactly what I meant. And then I said it again for the slow people that have a tough time comprehending English.

Thank you!

The ZL-1 threw down a monster lap and now the pressure is squarely on the GT500 to beat it. I just want to see the two cars back to back... no variables.

Look in the mirror. You launched the first insult. I'm done wasting my time with you.
