Hey guys,

Im looking to change out my tires on the car and i want something that will look good and not rub.

Right now i have

Front
245/35/R20

Rear
295/35/R20.

What can i get away with? I was thinking of dropping them both to 30's instead of 35. But on the rear also thinking of going to a 285/30/R20.

I would keep the 245/35 on front but you could go up to 255/35. I would definitely go 285/30 in the rear if you or not lowered. It works great on a non lowered car. The 245/35 and 285/30 is really really close to the same diameter as the stock 245/40/19. The 255/35 is about .4 taller than the stock tire while the 275/30 is about .2 shorter and works better on lowered cars. Check this out as well http://www.wheelcityusa.com/tires/chart.htm

Im wondering how the 285's would look on the rear? the rims are 9.5" wide so i dont want them to get to narrow.

Well I don't have a pic but I think the 285's would be great on a 9.5 rim. I plan on doing some TSW nurburgrings 20x8.5 + 40 with the 245/35 and and 20x9.5 + 48 with the 285/30. there is someone here with that setup but for the life of me I can't remember who it is.

Technically 285 is too wide for a 9.5" rim, but I ran them for a while and no issues. Proper sizes for what you are looking for are 285/30/20 and 245/35/20 or 255/35/20. Those will keep you closest to stock outer diameter for your tires.

Wrong it is the right size. Stock cts v wheels are 19x9 fronts and 19x9.5 rear. 255/40r19 fronts 285/35r19 rear.

Depends on what tires you are running. Some recommend a 10" wheel for a 285, some say a 9.5" is OK.

The cts v has Michelin from the factory. Michelin is pretty strict about what they recommend for correct wheel width to tire size. I've been selling tires for over 10 years. I understand each tire manufacture is a bit different but I go off what the top companies say to use. I'm not about saving a dollars and buying cheap tires. You get what u pay for. It cracks me up to see guys have all this money into their cars but then when they go to buy tires they want the cheapest thing.
