Had to put in coolant, but I used prestone instead of dexcool and I poured it in via the radiator cap. Do I need to do a flush?

Does the car still have it's original radiator? I would validate the upper radiator neck with raised barb is still in tact as was previously mentioned. Visually confirm if the neck and barb are still part of the radiator, or if the barb portion of the neck is inside the hose.

I encountered a similar situation with my one owner, upper hose popped off. The upper neck had previously been broken, owner simply reinstalled sans the raised barb portion of the neck thus nothing for the clamp to really engage with.

Here is my question - from what I am reading it sounds like the port on top of the raditor hose (where the hose slides on) is perhaps supposed to have a built in "lip" edge? It seems like the hose would slide into place over this lip and then the tightening clamp would be tighetened with it being on the hose but before the built in lip? This would make it so that the hose couldnt slide off like is happening now
That is absolutely correct. The radiator should have a "barb" "raised lip" so that the clamp can not slide off the upper orifice.

Am I recapping the setup correctly? If so then I think my radiator is the issue because the port where the hose connects is completed smooth.
Yes that's correct if your radiator does not have the barb, it would indicate the upper orifice previously was broken off, and not repaired back to the OEM specification.

I had the same issue with my previous one owner G8 that I picked up in 2022.

Link to vid that seems to be a similar issue

Assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Yes that video shows the broken condition, missing barb and portion of the tube. Once you get a new radiator or have the driver side tank repaired it will be apparent the section that is missing.

okay here is a pic of what I am seeing SHOULD BE on the radiator large hose intake port/"tube".
Its not the best pic because its all in black so I put a red box around it.

It appears the end of the radiator intake port/"tube" is supposed to have a lip on it. It sounds like the idea is to push the hose (with the clamp in place but loose) onto the port past the lip and then tighten the clamp so it can't slide backwards past the lip.

Can someone confirm this is correct for the G8 GXP?

And also anyone with any suggestions of how to source a replacement? I have done prelim reviews and it the radiator appears to be different for the V6 vs V8 (which is expected) but also maybe different between the M5 and A6?

I recollect the GT and GXP's share the same radiator. AC Delco 92234040 $500 to 700+ shows as the replacement for either model.

Any OEM style replacement radiator will have the barb. Aftermarket manufactured configuration YRRMV.

I replaced my original OEM radiator with Autozone Duralast A13044 $181. Would have preferred an OEM but at 3x the price, settled for aftermarket OEM style knock off. OReilly's has the same knock off radiator Murray 8013044 $229, Carquest has the same 813044 $229.

I'm unaware of any differences in radiator for auto or manual cars.
