Headliner Replacement - Need some help

Well I had the car in today to get the ball joints fixed and to have the 3rd brakelight replaced - bunch of the LED's were burned out. Turns out the dealership managed to not only break all the tabs on the third brake light that hold it to the headliner, but they attempted to glue and tape it back together and have it fall and dangle by the wire as I pulled into my garage. Quality work by GM as usual, who evidently "put's people first."

Now I had them order me a new headliner, but I requested that I be there during the installation of the new headliner and to assist them, because clearly they don't care about a car that has less than 2,000 miles on it. The guy was pretty cool about it, but I am wondering how in the hell does it go into the car? I was initally thinking through the windshield, but then I thought about taking the rear seats out and going through the trunk, I have no idea, and sadly enough I bet a dealership in the US doesn't either. Maybe Australia, but in the states these people seem clueless. Pretty terrible job done by a GM dealer, they are taking care of me, but this should have never happened in the first place. Anyone's thoughts on the approach to getting it in?

EDIT: This might be in the wrong section, sorry if it is, feel free to move it if needed.

Interesting question. Never thought of it and how they would replace it. Bet they remove the back seat and slid it in. Worse case they take a cutting torch and remove the roof. But remember it got put in on the production line.

Very carefully ;)

Instructions say through the right rear door, but the pictures show the left rear door & the instructions tell you to recline the left front seat all the way, which leads me to believe that it will be through the left rear door.

Hmmm....and where might you be getting this plethora of knowledge ;)...as in do you happen to have a manual that shows pictures or know where I can get them to bring to the dealership (Sad they barely know how to work on a vehicle)

well I am an advisor at a GMC, Buick and Pontiac(till pontiac leaves) and I like helping people.

I do think the picture is backwards, but it says the right seat has to come out and the left seat has to be fully reclined.

ahh.. That makes sense, I was only scanning the instructions & didn't notice the removal of the RF seat... It still seems odd that they show a picture of the LR door

Yea I just saw removal of front right seat, fantastic, another piece that needs to be removed from the car, basically gutting the interior, I wonder if it is hard to remove the driver seat as well? Maybe give a little bit more room to get this thing into the roof? Never removed one of these seats before, I just hope nothing starts rattling and clanking after this is all said and done. Once again thanks for all your help.

its fairly easy to remove any seat from a car. IMHO as long as you dont remove the seat adjuster you will be fine.

While the seat is out, have them do the adjuster mod so the passenger seat goes back as far as the drivers :)
