DTC P0106 after 1.85 rocker arms

I've already contacted Pat G about this since he's my remote tuner. Maybe someone else can assist too since i have no clue on what to do next.

My mods are rotofab cai, magnaflow catback, jba shorty headers, oem gxp cats, and hsrk. I have a Pat G tune with afm disabled. Car has been running great with no issues.

Today i installed a set of Yella Terra 1.85 rocker arms with Comp Cam 7.45 pushrods. I took my time and made sure everything was installed properly and to spec. Made sure all the hoses were connected back to the valve covers.

When i started the car the idle is very rough and i get a DTC P0106. Stability control also gets disabled. I didnt let it run for very long.

From what i understand a retune is not needed so i didnt ask Pat for a new tune beforehand. But maybe thats not true?

Any ideas or help is appreciated.

It should start up just fine. My suggestion would be to double check everything. Hopefully it's something small that was overlooked.

+1, make sure the MAP sensor is not loose or disconnected.

Thanks for the replies. I checked the MAP sensor and the connection is tight. I even unplugged it and plugged it back in to make sure. Checked all the other connections in that area and all seems good. It's possible I could have knocked something in that area as I was connecting/disconnecting the breather hose from the intake tube to the passenger valley cover.

I doubt it's the MAP sensor itself but may be worth it to order a new one and eliminate that as a possibility. Too bad its not in stock locally.

Small chance here. But it says that if the ECT were skewed (as in incorrect resistance or even disconnected) it could, (due to established logic tables within the ECM, or something like that), cause a P0106 code to set.

Rick and Pat both suggested that the pushrods could be too long and hanging the valves open thus throwing the code and extremely rough idle. Odd since everyone else doing this mod had no trouble with the 7.450. I'm going to reuse my stock 7.4 pushrods and see what happens today. Been way too busy with work this past week.

Did you measure the preload when you reassembled everything?

Well I guess that teaches me a lesson to think that my car would be the same as all others who did this mod and used 7.45 push rods with no issues. Big newb mistake on my part. So tonight I yanked out the Comp 7.45 push rods and put the stock 7.40 push rods back in and measured the pre-load. Low and behold this seemed to be the proper length as I got around 1.5 - 1.75 turns after zero lash to 22 ft/lbs. Used my Autocal to clear the previous DTCs and fired her up. Thank the lord it ran with no DTCs. The valvetrain noise was very noisy after initial install but as I let the car warm up it started to go away slowly. After driving around the valvetrain noise is just like others have described where it is actually quieter than stock. Amazing how much quieter it is now. Didn't go too crazy on the car yet but I could definitely feel the car pull harder on the low end and it seems to rev easier now. Glad no damage was done with the longer pushrods.

Congrats! That's weird but I'm glad it worked out for you. Have fun with the new found power
