Would it be easier to use a manual from a GXP?
Yes, using a manual GXP transmission makes it easier, that is what I did three years ago. The trouble is finding that transmission and associated wiring harness.

I am in the middle of my conversion. This thread has been very very helpful. Especially the folks on here posting tech articles.....absolutely invaluable info.
So far the motor is out and I have torn the front end off for ease of access. I am going to attempt an install of the motor and trans mated together as a complete unit. Hoping my shifter from MGW arrives soon....Tick performance Clutch master is enroute as well.
I am working on the radiator fittings to convert them to AN -6 and it proving to be tricky as those silly pushlok jesus clip connectors are proving tough to bypass with an off the shelf part.
Worked on the pedal conversion this evening and I have the clutch pedal hole marked and ready for cutting but want to wait for the actual Master cylinder to show before I cut it open.
TR6060 sourced locally rebuilt was 3900$. Putting in a Mantic clutch....2200$.....those hurt the pocket a bit but the final payoff I believe will be worth it.
Thanks.....
John

You will probably want to get the metal clutch alignment tool, I used the plastic one and trans wouldn't go in, once I received the metal tool it wouldn't go in either while the plastic one slid right in. After re-aligning with the metal tool, trans went in.

I'm doing the engine/bellhousing install first, then the trans. Just seem to have too much difficulty trying to get the engine trans in together. May be more work, but it's a lower degree of difficulty for me. I also have the MGW shifter, nice unit from what I can see so far, went with a monster twin disc clutch.

You will want to check your clutch setup and measure to verify the TOB clearance specified by your particular clutch. Also a good idea to get the TOB remote bleeder and metal collar. Tick is good for the metal clutch alignment and clutch TOB measurement tools/shim kits.

Take your time when figuring out the holes for the firewall bracket its easy to drill them in the wrong spot as I did, nothing some washer wont cover up but its done.
What are people doing for the hose from the reservoir to the master cylinder??
Is it just me or do you think for as much money as the master cylinder cost the kit should included 2 foot chunk of brake fluid rated hose and 2 clamps......?????
Third pedal installed......
Well so I thought.....Brake booster wouldn't go back in so more holes....
Finally got it back in to find out the Camaro Brake pedal assembly is about a 1/2" short on the two upper holes. So I am going to use my old brake ass'y with a modified pedal pad......
Having fun conquering these issues though...I hope this helps someone else down the line.

BTW vegas_ss I got my alignment tool from Tick today in the mail. Thanks for the tip.....and as soon as I pick up the motor next week I will be indexing that clutch as suggested.

Why are changing the radiator fitting for the cooler lines? Does the mantic clutch use a GM throw out bearing? Not sure if you have the GXP transmission or ? The throw out bearing is specific to the GXP due to the placement of the cutouts in the pump cover for the hydraulic lines. They are placed there for clearance of the lines on the G8.

Did you get the remote bleeder and metal collar if using the GM TOB?

What clearance for the TOB/PP is recommended on the mantic clutch? The monster specs are .0625" - .200" where ideal is 0.085" - 0.100" Mine was at 0.859" with no shims needed (of course since I bought the shim kit).

I am changing the cooler lines as they don't go to the right places anymore and i hate those silly fitting that come from the factory.
As for the T/O bearing, the clutch came with a bearing, Mantic said no need to shim. we will see about that as I am going to check it anyway.
Gearbox was sourced from a 2010 Camaro and yes I did get the remote kit from Tick to bleed it.
Hope that answers your questions......btw I haven't gotten to the transmission mount yet...😁

Does the camaro trans have a separate bell housing? Hopefully the position of the hydraulic lines won't be an issue.

Speaking of the transmission mount, what crossmember are you using?

You will like the 6 speed, only issue I really have is bouncing off the rev limiter... supposedly there is a shift light but I've never seen it.

The throw out bearing mantic uses in the kit is OE, you can upgrade the collar if not already done. I wonder why they would say no need to shim when they show the importance of checking in the linked video at the 6:20 mark. Does look like a nice clutch, wonder how the street manners are?

Oh yeah i will be checking it....

So it turns out a manual swap isn't as hard as I read it to be. Someone dropped a bug in my ear that got the ball rolling so I got it done fairly quickly once I gathered all the parts. I used a Camaro TR-6060 trans with the updated part number (I heard the early ones had a weak internal part, possibly the input shaft?), along with a Camaro slave, master cylinder, and pedal.

Used an LT twin disk clutch from Monster that feels stock and has no chatter. Trans went right in without issue, with plenty of room around the bell housing. I did have to drill a hole in the firewall for the master to pass through when mounting the pedal but otherwise, the clutch pedal bolted right up to the dash (a 1 3/4" hole saw works perfect). Tick braided master and speed bleeder lines worked well and I used a GXP reservoir since Camaro doesn't have a separate reservoir.

I got a TR-6060 to TH400 mount adapter from LSX Everything (T56/TR6060 Mounts) and used an Energy suspension TH400 short mount (3.1158R). I had to cut the front lip of the cross member back a little since Camaro trans is longer but otherwise worked fine.

Camaro shifter bolted in place about a 1/4" back from the stock shifter holes which is nice being a little closer to the driver. It still needs an MGW shifter as I installed in my GXP, stock shifters are just sloppy!

Ordered a custom carbon fiber driveshaft from DSS since the Camaro trans is a little longer it made for a shorter shaft than a typical G8. Runs smoothly with no vibration, rated for all the power and 240 MPH (not that it'll ever see that).

For the rear, I'm using it with a Camaro 3.45 and it doesn't feel all that far off from my GXP with 3.70's since the Camaro has slightly different trans ratios than the GXP.
GXP - 2.97 2.10 1.46 1.00 0.71 0.56 3.28
Camaro - 3.01 2.07 1.43 1.00 0.84 0.57 3.28

Took it for a drive and all is well! I'm surprised more people aren't doing this! I'll get some pics together for those interested... one thing I forgot about is the big auto brake pedal! DOH!
I am gathering parts for the swap. Does having the BCM reprogrammed for a manual (White Auto Service) get rid of the need to replace/splice the wire harness?
