Out cruising yesterday and ran into a State Trooper friend of mine I hadn't seen in years and we got to talking about the G8. He told me he hasn't seen many on the road and has never pulled one over and asked if they were fast, I told him they do "ok". ;) The light turned green and we drove nicly to the next light. At the next light he smiles and asks if I'd be interested in showing him how "ok" it does against his new Crown Vic cruiser, hesitant at first I made him swear he wouldn't pull me over or give me crap if I beat him and he agreed so I said ok.

Top speed was agreed on at 100 mph since the road was arrow straight with a 55mph speed limit and no cross roads. Sport mode and traction control on the light went green and we took off, him with his light bar going. By 100 mph my Cortex tune with Dynomax mufflers only mods I had him by more then a car and was still pulling. :driving:

He got in behind me and we pulled over and he came and checked it out in person and said he loved it and couldn't wait to get the new Chevy's he's heard about. I asked him if he knew for sure they were getting them, he smiled and said "Not for 100% sure but his supervisors keep hinting at it."

So for those who have been too afraid to run a cop car to find out, we kill em! LMAO!!

Sounds like fun but...

Only 1 car? I would figure at least 5-10.
x10 on that one! You sure it wasn't a Dodge Charger police car? At least then it would have been somewhat interesting.

1-2 CL on a Crown Vic to 100 is embarrasing. Is that a bad tune?

Its not exactly easy to gauge how far back a COP is when your DRAG RACING HIM ON THE STREET! LOL!!! When he pulled in behind me I had to look in the rearview mirror on the windsheild to find him and it looked like he was more then a car behind me. Maybe some of the more "professional" street racers could tell me how far that is.

That sounds more like it. I could see 1 car if yours was a V6. :)

Like the wife sez..."You can outrun the 'Vic, but I don't think you can outrun the Motorola..."

One of these days she needs to teach me the super secret LEO handshake that gets you outta tickets...

I drove a Crown Vic before I got my G8. They're very different cars! The CV is a nicer cruiser (not just in the police sense :D) and its trunk is amaznig, but the G8 will destroy it in a heartbeat in terms of performance... and back seat room!

There are three ways to gauge how much you beat another car by.

1. Peripheral vision, you see the car out of the corner of your eye. In other words, probably less than a car length.

2. You see him in the side mirror. You got him pretty good.

3. You see him in the rear view mirror. You smoked his azz big time.

A. Then again, he beats you and you can tell one of his tail lights are out. See number 2 in reverse.

B. Lastly, he beats you so bad, you can see his time on the quarter mile timer as you limp on by. See number 3 in reverse.

Been there, done that on all 5 instances. :driving:

I drive a CVPI every day. I agree that my GT would absolutely and undeniably eat the CV's lunch all day (probably even in AFM mode ha ha). I think the CVPI has a 0-60 time of over seven seconds.
