I know this is a pretty common occurrence for modern engines (especially the modular V8s and the LS-based GM v8s) but it has suprised me a bit to not see much talk about it in this ubb.
Since the cold snap here in the Midwest where we are seeing regular overnight temps dipping down into the high teens, I noticed my car exhibits a pretty noticeable piston rattle until the engine temp begins to rise. The rattle goes away within the first 2-3 miles of easy driving.
Are other G8 GT owners living in cold weather states also experiencing this on cold starts?
95% of my thought is that there is no issue and it's "normal" but I'd like some additional reassurance from other G8 GT owners for that last 5%!
What is the actual cause of the piston rattle in cold temps? Just differences in piston temps and cylinder temps?
