Rotofab 4" LS7 MAF Setup
Thanks to 768mph for providing the LS3 card and Spectre MAF housing part#'s.
I've been contemplating this idea for a couple of weeks since i'll be adding a cam in the near future, The difference in this setup is that first, the velocity stack that Rotofab provides with their setup connects to the stock 90mm MAF, so their Velocity stack is reduced to 3.5" before the MAF, most people won't have an issue with this it seems, I just want to do a full 4" intake tract setup even thought the TB opening is not 4" in diameter and be different
, second, the VS opening in the Rotofab setup is not smooth as i'd like it to be, I've used the Blox Velocity stacks before in my LS2 GTO with success to smooth out MAF readings, and in theory to ram more air to the intake tract, so i'm doing it again in the G8 to provide a straight 4" airflow path to the LS3 card MAF, and improve the VS design in the Rotofab setup. The Blox VS is just $40 so is cheap enough to justify the change
either way it needs to be tuned, whether you left the stock Roto velocity stack, or added a bigger one to match the 4" piping right before the MAF. if your car was tuned with the stock 3.5" VS, you'll need a retune after the 4" VS. Not a big deal when you can tune the biatch, or if your tuner does it for free.
Note: Engine would start, but it will die right away with this setup if the LS3/LS7 MAF hasn't been tuned properly.
Base MAF transfer table: i used the one from the 2011 Camaro, from there i've scaled the MAF in full, accounting for the mods i have.
IAT is embedded in the MAF, but IAT resistance vs IAT temps modeling is way different from the L76 to the LS3/LS7 (ohms differ, temp is the same), see post #26. The axis for the ohms resistance has to be changed. I used the same one from the Camaro 2011.
List of parts
1 4" MAF housing: Spectre 9705, $28
1 LS7 MAF card: AC Delco 213-4222, $43
1 Blox 6x4 Velocity Stack Composite: BXIM-00307,$42
2 Spectre Black 4" Intake Coupler: Spectre 9771, $15 each
1 Spectre 2" Long 4" Diameter Intake Pipe: Spectre 9722, $6.99
1 LS3 / LS7 MAF to L76 Harness Adapter from autowiringsolutions_aws, $29
You can skip this last part if you're good with Molex adaptors and how to take them apart, I was playing with it last week, but I didn't want to take my chances, knowing my luck, the wires would get stuck in the factory connector, and i'll end up doing a mickey mouse, so I just bought the adapter for a PNP install, but if you want to save $29, only two wires need to be swapped out the factory harness to connect to the LS3 style.
1 Honeycomb for MAF, 7:1 Ratio, 100mm size, $11 SaxonPC (Not Needed in N/A Trim)
i'll do something about the Roto elbow, for now it'll be stock, but i'll be changing that out to 4" eventually, i'm just trying to find a cheap option first.

Some notes post install, no apparent issues with air turbulence and this MAF without the screen in NA trim, however a test with the screen should be done to have a better comparison.
