So with my superchips tune which does nothing for wot lockup is my 3600 stall locking or not locking? I think it would revert to the stock transmission tune. But I just do not know. I do have a large transmission cooler mounted in the front bumper area to keep things cooler.

I will e mail him. I know hp tuners is releasing partial throttle lockup. Good stuff. It will drive like stock. But it might now be a few weeks for this. I just do not want to hurt it in the mean time with the wot runs.

It should be following the stock lockup strategy, lockup at cruise in 4th,5th and 6th, i believe it locks 3rd as well while cruising, and WOT lockup in 4th gear past 98mph or so.
Also WOT lock is commanded in 3rd and 4th while in manual mode, in 3rd, it starts at around 75mph or so.

Remember the factory lockup strategy is not a full lockup per se, the TCM allows slip in the factory unit, and that slip can kill your aftermarket verter. get her tuned ASAP.

You are the man! Greg from FTI wrote me back and said when I do get the tune he gives me permission to lock it right around 100. That would follow what you are saying. Around 98 is lockup on wot on the stock tune. But I am not sure if HP Tuners has those parameters where my tuner can do that or not.

Also I thought it was locking on cruising around town. It is just a little annoying from 0-45. Anything above 50 and all is ok. When it decelerates from 50 and my foot is not on the gas I can see the rpms going up and down.

So following Greg's thinking I am ok right now even with the superchips tune since it is probably locking at 98 plus. And he shot me an e mail saying 100 plus.

Remember the talk we had in the other forum? the annoyance is there because even though the factory commands verter lockup in cruise areas, it also allows the stock verter to slip. aftermarket units are not designed to do that, is either lockup and not slip, or no lockup at all.
the TCM is trying to lockup while allowing the verter to slip, and that is what you feel at cruising speed. your verter doesn't like that.

Also, i don't know how well is your verter doing at WOT when the TCM commands lockup while allowing the verter to slip. your verter is designed to slip at WOT on its own, that's where that % efficiency comes from. so it's probabaly slipping more that what it should.

Without the new HPT tables (what they'll do with this tables is give us the chance to disable the slip, until they get released, slip is still happening), i think what your tuner will do is simply disable lockup at cruise and lockup at WOT.

Once we get access to the new tables, you can go back to the tuner, and he/she can disable the slip, and command lockup at cruise, and WOT lockup past 100mph if the verter can hold it. Don't know if your tuner would want to do so because in theory we shouldn't lock the single disk units. but that's something that you chat about between the tuner and the verter manufacturer.

With HPT, the easy fix for the converter surge is to raise the enable/disable mph at the first TPS/MPH setting for TCC lockup in 6th gear. A higher stall converter wont drag the motor anymore on decel and the MPH is still commanding lockup sp with the way it commands lockup with the pressure values and allowed slip it causes rpm suges from @65 mph and slower.
